Gareth Southgate paid tribute to Britain's Heroes at St. George's Park this weekend, after joining a group of recovering servicemen and women for a training session at the national football centre.
There were 14 lucky winners of a competition set up between England team sponsor Vauxhall and their official charity Help For Heroes, who run the Tedworth House recovery centre in Wiltshire where the attending group came from.
On arrival at St. George's Park, the group were treated to a tour of the facilities and welcomed before they were able to watch Southgate's Under-21s squad in training and then take to the pitch themselves under the guidance of an FA coach.
And Three Lions head coach Southgate joined them for a bit of work on the pitch, as well as chatting and meeting the winners and their families on the sidelines.
"I think they've enjoyed themselves and there's been a few skills on show, but most importantly I think they've had a great day," said Southgate.
"It's nice to be able to spend some time with them and see the realisation of what massive football fans they are too.
"It's humbling to see them able to play football with those legs and the fantastic work which goes on in terms of looking after our troops when they come back from the conflicts."
Southgate's squad are currently at St. George's Park as they prepare for Monday's Euro qualifier against Wales and next week's Toulon Tournament.
