England U17s were crowned at European Champions on Wednesday night following a penalty shoot-out victory over Holland in Malta.

Head coach John Peacock, who also led England to the same title with his squad in 2010, has already spoken of his pride in the players after what has been a successful campaign.

And Club England managing director Adrian Bevington saw the victory from the Under-21s' base in Toulon and said: "It's fantastic to see England U17s crowned as European Champions in Malta tonight.

"Congratulations to all the England U17s players, to head coach John Peacock, Kenny Swain and all the staff with the team in Malta - I am delighted that all their hard work has been rewarded in this way.

"This is a marvellous achievement and a real sign of the progress made by our development teams over the past few years.

"The tournament experience the players have enjoyed is invaluable for their personal development and international progression.

"It shows what we can do when we are able to field our strongest squad.

"To win on penalties is a particularly good feeling!"
