Hodgson and his squad are training at the Vale do Lobo in the Algarve, where there are preparing ahead of the friendly match against Peru at Wembley on 30 May.
The England manager is enjoying his time with his charges following the end of the domestic club season and he believes their pre-World Cup preparations are off to a good start.
“I'm impressed by the way the players have approached this task and are going about their business”
Roy Hodgson
He said: "It feels like start of a big adventure. This is an excellent place to have a training camp. The first three days have gone as well as I could have possibly hoped for. There's a long way to go and a lot more days to get through, but we're off to a good start.
"It's been a very good three days. If we have the next two days in the same vein as these last three I shall be very happy.
"I'm finding it tremendous. I've really enjoyed being with them these two or three days. I'm impressed by the way they've approached this task and are going about their business. They've impressed me so many times in the past."
Hodgson said that defender Phil Jones, who suffered a shoulder injury earlier this month, could return to full training by the end of the week and says John Stones will resume training on Thursday after missing Wednesday's session due to a slight knee injury.
He added: "We had a slightly unfortunate incident with John Stones. He twisted his knee very slightly. It's nothing serious, he could have actually trained today, but we chose to leave him out because it's so early on. We don't want to run any risks.
"It was nice to see Phil Jones joining in the warm-up. He's going very well and and he might be taking part before the end of the week in footballing activities. Apart from those two everybody is fit and well. At the moment things are looking good."
Hodgson also reserved words of praise and encouragement for England's Under-17 team, who will face Holland in the Final of the UEFA Under-17 European Championship in Malta on Wednesday evening.
He added: "I would just like to wish England Under-17 manager John Peacock and all of the players all the very best in that game and let's hope we start our preparations for the World Cup with an Under-17s win."
