U17s drawn with Ireland, Netherlands and Hungary

England won all three first round qualifiers last month

England Women’s U17s have been drawn alongside Republic of Ireland, Hungary and Netherlands in the elite qualifying round for this season’s European Championship.

John Griffiths’s side eased into this final stage by winning all three first round qualifiers, against Moldova (9-0), Bulgaria (5-0) and Russia (4-1).

The matches will take place in Republic of Ireland between 9-14 April. The finals will be staged in Iceland in June.

Meanwhile, the draw for next season’s first qualifying round has also been made. The Young Lions have been pitched with Estonia (hosts), Poland and Croatia. 

England finished fourth at last year’s Euros, a tournament hosted on home soil to help mark The FA’s 150th anniversary.

Elite round draw

Group 1: Finland, Switzerland, Turkey, Serbia

Group 2: England, Netherlands, Republic of Ireland, Hungary

Group 3: Germany (holders), Italy, Belarus, Czech Republic

Group 4: Spain, Belgium, Russia, Romania

Group 5: Denmark, Austria, Sweden, Norway

Group 6: France, Scotland, Poland, Slovakia
