The Southampton ‘keeper picked up his third cap during Tuesday’s win over Scotland at Celtic Park, after seeing Hart rested following the victory against Slovenia last weekend.
And Aston Villa stopper Brad Guzan has been an interested observer of the England goalkeeping situation since Forster’s arrival at St. Mary’s during the summer.
"I think he [Forster] is a very good goalkeeper, Joe is a good goalkeeper and England are fortunate to have two keepers - along with Ben Foster - who play week in, week out in the Premier League and playing for top teams," said the USA international, who will be facing Forster’s Saints on Monday evening.
"That's important. Sometimes Joe gets some unfair criticism but Fraser has done a really good job at Southampton and he is proving that he is a top goalkeeper."
Southampton’s stunning start to the season under new boss Ronald Koeman sees them approach the match in the Premier League’s top four, with Forster conceding just five goals to date.
And after spending most of his career prior to that with Scottish giants Celtic, Guzan has been impressed with the way the 26-year-old has slotted seamlessly into life on the South Coast.
"You look at Southampton as a whole and how he fits into that team and he has done a really good job," added Guzan.
"The record and the clean sheets speak for themselves.
"He is a big part of that, you tip your hat to him because it's not always easy coming from any league into the Premier League and adjusting. He has done a really good job."
