England duo Adam Lallana and Jordan Henderson both scored to give Liverpool victory over West Bromwich Albion
Also on the scoresheet at Anfield was England Under-21 striker Saido Berahino, who briefly levelled the game for the Baggies from the penalty spot.
Lallana combined with Henderson to put Liverpool ahead shortly before half-time , his first goal for the Reds since his big-money move from Southampton.
But Berahino made it 1-1 in the 56th minute from the penalty spot, after being fouled by Dejan Lovren.
The Baggies striker took his league total to five goals, meaning he is the leading English scorer in the Premier League.
But Liverpool regained the lead five minutes later when Raheem Sterling fed his England colleague Henderson, who side-footed past Ben Foster.
The result took Liverpool into seventh place.
Meanwhile, there was a winning return to Villa Park for England midfielder James Milner.
The former Villans star returned to the Midlands with Manchester City and came away with three points after late goals from Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero gave the champions a 2-0 victory.
Joe Hart helped City keep their first Premier League clean sheet since the opening day victory against Newcastle United, and Fabian Delph also played the full 90 minutes for the home side.
