Wayne Rooney and his England team-mates can expect a warm welcome at Wembley Stadium on Thursday night.

Hundreds of serving, wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women will watch the Three Lions take on San Marino in their European Qualifier.

The FA is once again supporting our military heroes by getting behind charity Tickets For Troops by providing free tickets to members of the Armed Forces - including to a large group currently based at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre, Headley Court.

And the Three Lions skipper is delighted to be able to support the charity again.

"We're always incredibly proud as players to run out at Wembley and it’s a special feeling that there will be members of our Armed Forces in attendance tonight including a large group from Headley Court,” said England skipper Rooney.

“The work undertaken at Headley Court is vital to the recovery and rehabilitation of our servicemen and women injured in conflict.

“It’s great that the partnership between The FA and Tickets For Troops gives them a well-deserved chance for some enjoyment and time away from the hard work of their rehabilitation.”

It will be the first time that over one hundred wounded, injured and sick service personnel will be travelling from Headley Court to Wembley together through the Tickets For Troops initiative.

Headley Court is the home of the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre. The primary aim of the staff and patients working together is to help Servicemen and women to make the best recovery possible from injury or illness.

For most combat casualties, Headley Court is the final stage of the rehabilitation process as treatments are focused on returning Service personnel to the best level of function possible.

This includes the treatment of complex injuries, including those of amputees and brain-injured patients, plus the majority of the centres work treating various musculoskeletal injuries.

Tickets For Troops was set up in 2009 to recognise the brave servicemen and women who spend months away from their families, need to be available to serve at short notice and put their lives on the line for our country.

They offer troops, on behalf of our donors, tickets to events which they can share with their loved ones, as a small acknowledgement of the work they do.

Veronica Bamford, Director of Operations at Tickets For Troops visited Headley Court this week and said: “I am yet again reminded how important it is for these opportunities to be provided for our courageous servicemen and women who go above and beyond for our country.

"We are extremely proud that organisations like The FA continue to get behind our Armed Forces"
