FA Chairman Greg Dyke is urging football fans across the country to support Non-League Day on Saturday 6 September.

With England not playing their Euro 2016 qualifier in Switzerland until next week and the Premier League and Championship on a break, Dyke will be heading to Eastleigh where the Spitfires take on Southport in the Conference Premier.

He said: “I think Non-League Day is a fantastic concept and commend the organisers for turning it into an annual event that has become a regular fixture on the football calendar.

“No other country has the depth of England’s football pyramid so it’s something that should be celebrated and supported in equal measure and Non-League Day does exactly that.

“Non-League football is reliant on volunteers so I hope Premier League and Championship fans across the country can help put a few numbers on the gate at their local community clubs this weekend as it makes a real difference for everyone involved.”

With The FA Cup already underway, Saturday sees the start of The FA Vase with over 500 clubs taking part this season and looking to follow in the footsteps of Sholing who lifted the trophy at Wembley in May
