Wayne Rooney scored as Manchester United to their first win under new manager Louis van Gaal with a 4-0 win over Harry Redknapp’s QPR, at Old Trafford.
Rooney's 17th Premier League strike takes him level with Thierry Henry in third place on the all-time scoring table.
The former Everton forward stands 14 goals behind second-placed Andrew Cole, although he requires a further 85 before he catches up with another former England striker, Alan Shearer's remarkable 260-goal tally.
Rooney, who skippered his country in last week’s Euro 2016 qualifying win in Switzerland, scored his third goal of the season to put the score beyond Rangers’ reach just before half-time.
Ander Herrera picked up the assist, but Rooney did all the hard work as he shot past former England international Rob Green in the QPR goal. Angel Di Maria, Herrera and Juan Mata were also on the scoresheet for United.
England Under-21s defender Tyler Blackett kept a clean sheet in a 90-minute stint for United while summer signing from Southampton Luke Shaw, who won his third senior England cap at the World Cup in Brazil this summer, was an unused substitute as he marked his return from injury.
Earlier England U21s midfielder Will Hughes played in Derby County's 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest, while U20s forward and Liverpool loanee Jordon Ibe came off the bench for the Rams.
