With the FA Women’s Super League 1 title race set to go down to the wire, Remi Allen admits that Birmingham City Ladies can afford nothing less than three points against Liverpool on Sunday.
The Blues have hit a rough patch of form at just the wrong moment, winning only one of their last four league matches and slipping to second place in the table – two points behind title rivals Chelsea.Sunday’s opponents Liverpool also harbour hopes of retaining their league crown and currently sit two points behind Birmingham in third place.

With just three games remaining, Sunday’s match at Solihull Moors could make or break both teams’ seasons and Allen insists her side will come out all guns blazing.
“It’s a huge game for both clubs, we are fully aware of their strengths, and as they showed last year they are a quality side,” said the midfielder.
“Every game at either end of the table is now a must-win, be it at the top or the bottom. We’re going to do our best to get maximum points but it will be tough.
“Liverpool’s experience of the run-in last year can only help – they have that experience under their belts but, at the end of the day, it is just three football matches and that’s how we are treating it.”

Liverpool drew 1-1 with Birmingham when the teams met back in May – a penalty apiece for Fara Williams and Karen Carney the only goals that day.
The Reds go into the rematch on a three-game unbeaten run and defender Gemma Bonner says that the snapping of that streak on Sunday would signal the end of their title challenge.
“Birmingham will be a tough game – they are second and two points above us as well, so it is a massive game for us,” said Bonner.
“Both teams will be after the three points and it’s a must-win game for both sides’ title ambitions. If we lose it will be tough to come back and win it.
“The goal is to achieve maximum points in the last three games, and that starts with this weekend.
"But Birmingham have a great team so we won’t go there expecting to get the win easily.”
