Perfect England ready for Euro Champs at Wembley

On Sunday 23 November England Women's team make history by playing at Wembley Stadium for the first time as they face two-time world champions Germany.

It promises to be a mouth-watering occasion as two nations in red-hot form come together under the arch.

Mark Sampson's side wrapped up qualification for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup in style on Wednesday, smashing ten goals past Montenegro without reply to complete a perfect group campaign.

While England's run to Canada has been impressive, so too has Germany's. The current European champions also came through their group with a 100 per cent record, scoring 62 times and conceding just four in ten outings.

Both countries will now look forward to their first meeting in five years - the last time England Women played Germany was in the Final of the 2009 UEFA European Championship, the Germans winning 6-2 to take the crown.

Toni Duggan was again at the double inside the opening 13 minutes and Eniola Aluko and Jill Scott netted before the break. Karen Carney, Lianne Sanderson, Demi Stokes, Toni Duggan - for her hat-trick - and Natasha Dowie wrapped up a comprehensive win on the south coast.

Natasha Dowie gave England a narrow half-time lead, but Eniola Aluko scored early in the second half before both she and Dowie grabbed their second goals to seal victory.

Eniola Aluko was again in the goals, netting on the half-hour mark before Steph Houghton made it 2-0. Lucy Bronze grabbed her first of the campaign in injury time as England won again.

Casey Stoney and Eniola Aluko had given England control of the game with just 15 minutes played, but Olha Ovdiychuk netted for the Ukrainians - the first and only goal England conceded in qualifying - to half the deficit with half an hour to go.

England finished their campaign in convincing fashion, smashing double figures past the Montenegrins. Another hat-trick, this time from Eniola Aluko, as well as braces from Karen Carney and Toni Duggan and efforts from Lucy Bronze, Alex Greenwood and Jo Potter wrapped a commanding performance.
