And Wright admits that whilst captaining the team will be up there with his greatest achievements in football, the squad haven’t really had much chance to think about the game until now.
"It’s a great honour and a proud moment for me and the team," he said.
"I’m sure it will be a great day, but we have also had our league cup final and been going for the league title in the run-up to this Final, so we’ve had plenty to occupy our thoughts.
"I think the excitement will build as we get closer to the big day."
The Merseysiders have had to come through six previous rounds to reach The Final, starting out last October.
And with a busy schedule of games in their own league, Wright says the close-knit nature of their squad under manager Anthony Clarke has helped them get through it.
"It is hard at times but to be honest, we are all mates and we all socialise together," he explained.
"We play five-a-side three times a week so we’re all in contact daily, we are just a group of mates and we all live pretty close to each other.
"A great deal of credit has got to go to the manager. I think he’s in his third season and since he’s taken over he’s changed the mentality of the team.
"We were just a group of mates playing football and since Anthony’s come in, in our first season we finished second and last season we won our league – our first ever trophy.
"And this season, we could win more."
