Jordon Ibe has spoken of how he is his own harshest critic, and vowed to work on adding more goals to his game.
After a successful loan spell at Derby County in the first half of the 2014-15 season, the England Under-20s forward was recalled to Anfield in January and made his Premier League debut against Everton in February.
But despite impressing during the remainder of the campaign, he failed to find the net in his 14 appearances and that's something he wants to put right as soon possible.
"I’m not completely satisfied because I need to keep working on a few things like my end product, getting the ball and finding someone in the box and trying to add a few more goals to my game," he said.
"I’m quite self-critical. I like to think about things after a game - things I could have improved on like maybe having taken a shot on or something.
"I know I’m at a young age, but in my position I need to have an end product."
Following Raheem Sterling’s exit to Manchester City earlier this summer, Ibe also knows that the forthcoming season could be a crucial one for him.
And the London-born winger – exactly one year younger than Sterling – says he knows if he is not adding goals to his game, he needs to contribute in other areas.
"If I’m not getting a goal in a game then I need to be trying to get an assist for one of my team-mates or making sure I have a great game," he said in an interview with the club’s official website.
"The season is coming up and I need to keep improving and keep the manager satisfied with my performances so I can get a chance to play regularly in the Premier League."
Unlike many of his team-mates, Ibe elected to stay behind during his off-season and do extra fitness work.
Something he says he hopes will stand him in good stead when the new campaign gets under way.
"I spoke about it with [Academy Director] Alex Inglethorpe and the manager had suggested to him that I do some extra sessions to keep myself ticking over during the summer," Ibe continued.
"I’m definitely feeling the benefits of that. All the little bits of extra work add up. I have to give a lot of credit to Alex.
"I’ve done some extra training sessions at Melwood as well, so hopefully it’ll all add up for me."
Liverpool begin their new season where they ended the last – with an away game at Stoke City on Sunday 9 August.
Their first home game of the season is against AFC Bournemouth eight days later.
