Ellen White has backed her Notts County team-mates to put the disappointment of Saturday’s SSE Women’s FA Cup Final defeat behind them and continue their WSL 1 title charge.

The Lady Pies suffered a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea in the first Final to be staged at Wembley Stadium, in front of a crowd of more than 30,000.

But they are straight back into league action on Wednesday, when they play host to relegation-threatened Bristol Academy.

A victory for Notts County would move them above Chelsea to within a point of The FA Women’s Super League with BT Sport summit.

And England striker White, with three league goals to her name this season, is aiming high.

"All the games are crazy at the moment, so you never know what can happen," said the 26-year-old.

"Bristol are fighting for their lives, they have got five games to stop themselves going down.

"They may be banking on the fact that we have just played in a cup final and they will want to use that to their advantage.

"But we will be professional and up for the game, regardless of the cup final, because we want to finish in the highest possible position in the WSL.

"If results keep going the way they are, anything could happen. We will be fighting all the way."

Though Bristol remain winless in the WSL this season, back-to-back wins in the Continental Tyres Cup have restored hope of a strong finish.

Victory over a Notts County side packed with England internationals would move Bristol just a point behind seventh-placed Birmingham City.

And midfielder Caroline Weir, herself a Scotland international, is hopeful Rick Passmoor’s team can be toppled.

"Hopefully we can play well against them and get a result," said the 20-year-old former Arsenal midfielder.

"Most teams have quite a few internationals playing for them, so we are used to that; they’ve got good players throughout their squad, so it will be good to play against them and hopefully get a result.

"They had the game on Saturday and we are playing them on Wednesday, so they won’t have too much time for recovery, whereas we’ve had a whole week.

"I’m not sure whether that works in our favour or not, but it is going to be a tough game anyway and we will be prepared for that. Hopefully we can get a result."
