Morecambe’s Kevin Ellison and Ryan Edwards will both serve three-match suspensions with immediate effect after each admitted an FA charge of violent conduct.
The pair were charged retrospectively following Morecambe’s game against Wycombe Wanderers on 18 August 2015.
It was alleged the players’ behaviour, which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video, after the end of the fixture constituted violent conduct.
Off the ball incidents which are not seen at the time by the match officials are referred to a panel of three former elite referees who will determine, independently of one another, whether they consider it a sending-off offence. For a retrospective charge to follow, the decision by the panel must be unanimous.
Whilst both players did admit the violent conduct charge they did not accept the automatic three-match penalty, however, the suspensions were imposed following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing.
