Jack Wilshere will miss England’s next two Euro Qualifiers in September, but could be set for a return to action later that month.
The Arsenal midfielder suffered an ankle injury in training with the Gunners earlier in August, which has ruled him out of the start of the new season.
And while England's trip to San Marino and the Wembley clash with Switzerland next month will come too soon for the 23-year-old, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that Wilshere is well on the road to recovery.
"It is a bit too optimistic to think he will be ready for England," said Wenger, ahead of his side’s game with Liverpool next Monday.
"After the international break, he has a chance, but beforehand, no chance."
Roy Hodgson’s side know they could seal qualification for next summer’s Euro Finals in France should they continue their 100 per cent record in Group E in September.
