The 22-year-old has been the subject of reported interest from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur over the close season.
But the former Brentford and Peterborough United loanee has taken the advice offered by Pulis and remained fully focused on Albion’s early-season fixtures.
"He has handled it very well at the moment," revealed Pulis.
"The only advice I've given him is to concentrate on his football and try to improve himself as a footballer.
"God has given him a great gift and he can't waste it."
The Baggies face Chelsea on Sunday, a fixture in which Berahino scored one of the most memorable of his 20 strikes last term as Albion secured a late-season victory over the champions.
And Pulis is hoping the former Under-21 star can produce the same again when they meet Jose Mourinho’s side at the Hawthorns.
"I just had a chat with him on the pitch when we were training on Monday or Tuesday and told him what I thought," he revealed.
"I told him not to get wrapped up in all the hype, concentrate on his football and let the other people deal with the stuff that's going on because he can't affect it.
"He's a young lad and he might need some protection, we will see.
"Lots of people have done that in the past and I just hope he's not one of them."
