But despite making himself a dependable option for Gareth Southgate's England Under-21s side, he failed to truly make an impact in the Premier League until last November.

Then in early 2015 everything he touched seem to turn to gold as he embarked on a remarkable scoring run for Tottenham Hotspur, ending the season with 21 league goals.

By March an England debut seemed inevitable, but the immediacy of his impact still stunned Wembley Stadium, as he leapt off the bench against Lithuania to open his goalscoring account after 80 seconds.

Harry Kane's dream debut

He made his first start against Italy in Turin just a few days later, and ended the year on eight caps, scoring further goals against San Marino and Switzerland the Three Lions booked their place at the 2016 EURO finals in France.

For Harry Kane – as Frank Sinatra would say – it was a very good year.

Now it is up to you to help decide which Three Lions players you think deserve the honours for their performances in 2015. Voting for the two awards closes at midnight on Sunday 3 January 2016.
