And he started the year by scoring an impressive equaliser in England's match against Germany before they completed a thrilling 3-2 win at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium in late March.
Redmond was then among the best performers during the Euro Finals, the second time he had been to that stage with the U21s, and he added another goal to his record in the final group match against Italy in Olomouc.
Despite England's disappointment at their Euro exit, Redmond's performances in Czech Republic earned him a place in UEFA's team of the tournament and he returned to Carrow Road as a hero having also scored in their Championship play-off win over Middlesbrough at Wembley in May.
The former Birmingham City youngster returned to help spear-head the new Euro Qualifying campaign in September, helping England to a hard-fought win over Norway where he won a penalty for James Ward-Prowse's winner.
And he scored one of the best goals of the year in October when his pace and skill was exploited with a quick throw out from keeper Jordan Pickford before Redmond did the rest to net against Kazakhstan in Coventry.
