It is an interview question that can stump job applicants – but England U18s midfielder Ryan Ledson was in no doubt when asked where he wanted to be in five years’ time.
The 17-year-old, who led England to victory in last year’s U17 European Championship, aims to be a key member of Everton’s first team.
And after making his senior club debut in the Europa League against Krasnodar in December, he is hungry for more.

Asked where he saw himself in 2020, Ledson said: “Right here. Staying here, and in the first team.
“[Making my debut] was brilliant; being a Scouser, and going to the games all the time, and then getting onto the pitch… you just want more of it.
“The gaffer [Roberto Martinez], he gives the young lads a chance – he did it at Wigan and he has definitely done it here up until now.”
Martinez has helped Ross Barkley grow into a senior player and an England international, while defender John Stones has flourished under the Spaniard.
Ledson added: “That’s what he wants, he wants us progressing, and maybe a few of us get brought up to the first-team.”
