Gary Bowyer believes The FA Cup has finally brought the best out of the Blackburn Rovers fans.

The Championship side knocked out Premier League opposition at Ewood Park for the second round in succession on Saturday with a 4-1 win over Stoke City.

And Rovers boss Bowyer reckons his team’s performance led to an atmosphere to savour at full time as the Blues head into the Sixth Round for the second time in three seasons.

"It’s been a while since we’ve seen scenes like that at the end of the game here," revealed Bowyer, whose side also beat Swansea City at Ewood in the Fourth Round.

"It was a proper Cup tie, a proper atmosphere so full credit to our fans and they were terrific so we’re just glad we could send them home happy."

It wasn’t always going in Blackburn’s favour either, as they slipped behind to an early goal from Peter Crouch which had a sizeable following from Stoke in good voice.

But strikes from Josh King and Rudy Gestede had turned the game around by half time before King completed his hat-trick after the break.

"To go 1-0 down so early in the game and then come back to not only equalise but to take the game to Stoke and make it a real Cup tie, full credit to them [the crowd],” added Bowyer.

"After going behind, you wonder how they’re going to react but the character of the team and how they did respond really got the crowd going."

All eyes will now be on Monday evening’s Sixth Round Proper draw, with Bowyer admitting that his squad will most likely see from South Wales ahead of their game with Cardiff City on Tuesday.
