Steven Gerrard's England and Liverpool team-mates have paid tribute to the outgoing captain, who has confirmed he will leave the club at the end of the season.
The former Three Lions captain will depart Anfield after 17 years' service when his contract expires in the summer – and his team-mates were quick to pay tribute to 'Mr Liverpool' Steven Gerrard.
Daniel Sturridge was among the 23 current Reds players to pay tribute to the 34-year-old on the club's website.
The striker said: "Stevie will always be a legend – not just for Liverpool but to England as well.
"He will go down in history as one of the best midfielders in the game. He's just unbelievable every day, a great leader and the perfect example for every young player around the country."
Rickie Lambert, a lifelong supporter of the club he now represents, added his own words of praise for Gerrard saying his name has become synonymous with the club.

"He's No1 for me and I think he always will be. He has meant everything to me, growing up as a Liverpool fan.

Raheem Sterling, another team-mate who played alongside Gerrard for club and country, thanked Gerrard for the role he has played in helping his own development.
"He has been brilliant for me," Sterling said.
"He's always looking after me, always checking to see if I'm alright. He's an inspiration and a great captain."
Gerrard's midfield partner Jordan Henderson spoke highly of the 34-year-old and his "humble" personality.
The Liverpool vice-captain said: "He is a top player but he is also a top person. The lads can go to him with anything and he will always help them out and put them first.
"That is massive as a captain. With the aura that he has got, he could be a different person but he is very humble."

Steven Gerrard
"This has been the toughest decision of my life and one which both me and my family have agonised over for a good deal of time," he told liverpoolfc.com.
"I am making the announcement now so that the manager and the team are not distracted by stories or speculation about my future.
"Liverpool Football Club has been such a huge part of all our lives for so long and saying goodbye is going to be difficult, but I feel it's something that's in the best interests of all involved, including my family and the club itself."
No announcement has been made regarding his next move.
He is however not expected to join another English side, with many tipping him to move across the Atlantic to join one of several MLS suitors.
