Freeman hoping to make more FA Cup history with Robins

Luke Freeman has already made FA Cup history once in his career and the Bristol City midfielder is keen to add more to that collection.

The former England U17s starlet held the record of being the competition’s youngest ever player after his appearance for Gillingham as a 15-year-old back in 2008.

Since then, the 22-year-old has gone on to represent the likes of Arsenal and Stevenage before joining the Robins last summer.

And Steve Cotterill’s side now face League One rivals Doncaster Rovers in a Third Round replay on Tuesday night, with a home tie against either West Ham or Everton in the next round.

"Now we know what is there for us in the next round you want to go out and make sure you are through," said Freeman.

"You always want to see what you’re capable of and see how far you are from that level.

"It should give us more belief and a chance to go out there and play because we have a good opportunity to play a big side."

The first tie at the Keepmoat Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw ten days ago, with Freeman making a second-half substitute appearance in that game.

But with City flying high in the League and enjoying home advantage at Ashton Gate on this occasion, he sees no reason why they can’t continue the good form which has seen them win five of their last six games.

"We’re comfortable playing at home," he told Robins Player.

"We played them at the start of the season in the league. It was a tough game but nevertheless we were the better side and we won.

"I think we’re just confident we can do that again."
