Ronaldo-double Theophanous seals Yellows Trophy win

Tuesday 13 Jan 2015
Cristiano Ronaldo, or is it Farnborough's Louie Theophanous?
As Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was picking up the FIFA Ballon D'Or award for the third time on Monday evening, his body double Louie Theophanous was also on the mark.

The Farnborough striker, who travels to Madrid several times a year to act as Ronaldo's body double for Nike adverts, was in action against Maidenhead United in their Second Round Proper replay while the former Manchester United forward was in Zurich for the glittering award ceremony.

And Theophanous, who was the Conference South's leading scorer with Staines Town last season before a switch to league rivals Farnborough in October, continued to prove a worthwhile purchase for the Hampshire side with the winner on this occasion.

The 22-year-old struck home in style after great work by Duncan Culley down the right before he pulled the ball back to settle the tie with 20 minutes to go. The initial match ended in a 2-2 draw.

His latest goal sets up an intriguing tie against Conference North side North Ferriby United in The FA Trophy Third Round Proper, which is due to take place on Saturday 24 January, at Farnborough's Paddy Power Park.
