Three more sides progressed into the Third Round on Tuesday

Wrexham booked their place in the Third Round of the FA Trophy with an emphatic victory over Stockport County.

The Conference side ran out 6-1 winners in their Second Round replay on Tuesday night – despite midfielder Joe Clarke having to play half the match in goal.

The 26-year-old donned the gloves at half-time – and kept a clean sheet – after goalkeeper Dan Bachmann picked up an injury.

Woking 2-1 Oxford City
Wrexham 6-1 Stockport

By the time Clarke did find himself between the posts Wrexham were already 2-1 up, with Wes York and Louis Moult finding the net.

There was more of the same from the home side in the second half, as they put in a impressive performance to move within three games of a return to Wembley – where they won the FA Trophy in 2013.

Moult and York both doubled their tallies in the second-half to make it 4-1, while Andy Bishop and Steve Tomassen also got in on the act to complete the rout.

Elsewhere, Woking joined Wrexham in the next round after coming from a goal down to defeat Oxford City 2-1.

The visitors made the dream start to the replay when they took the lead after three minutes through Greg Pearson.

However, they were soon down to 10 men when defender Alesandro Santiago was sent off after 33 minutes.

That gave Woking the impetus they needed to get back into the tie and the Conference side duly levelled the scores one minute later from the resulting free-kick, with Josh Payne expertly curling the ball into the top corner.

Woking then secured the victory in the second half when 17 minutes from time John Goddard rifled the ball home from 20 yards.

The final team to book their place in the Third Round during Tuesday’s matches was FC United of Manchester, who overcame Chorley 1-0.

In a tight game it was Tom Greaves who scored the decisive goal in the 51st minute, with the striker turning his marker on the edge of the box and lashing the ball into the top corner with his left foot.

But, FC United will have to wait to see who they will face in the next round as Tuesday’s final replay between AFC Flyde and AFC Telford United was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

They will now play on Tuesday Janaury 20, with the winners facing a trip to FC United in the Third Round on January 24.
