England’s Under-19s head coach Sean O’Driscoll has announced he will be leaving The FA to join Liverpool FC with immediate effect.
O’Driscoll, who joined The FA last September, will take up his role as assistant manager working alongside Brendan Rodgers.
"My work with The FA has brought me into contact with many extremely talented people across all walks of the organisation.” said O’Driscoll.
“It has been an invaluable learning experience working with these people, as well as being involved with the most talented players coming up through the system.
"The work to establish a football ideology that can consistently produce winning England teams across all age-groups is something I continue to fully support.
"It will evolve over time but the building blocks are being put in place and the culture is being set to try to ensure that success at international level is not simply a one-off end-goal but a sustainable by-product of the ongoing efforts of everybody connected to the FA.
"Liverpool FC is an iconic club, with a rich, tradition and history. This is an exciting opportunity to work with top players in the most exciting league in Europe and I am looking forward to joining the club."
FA technical director, Dan Ashworth, added: “Sean has a proven track record as a manager and is an experienced coach, it will be sad to see him leave The FA but we understand it’s an opportunity he can’t refuse.
“On behalf of The FA we would like to thank him for his efforts and wish him every success in his new role at Liverpool.”
