Raheem Sterling has signed for Manchester City, the club has confirmed.
The England forward has signed a five-year deal with the two-time Premier League champions after completing a medical on Tuesday afternoon.
The fee is believed to be £49 million – making Sterling the most expensive English player ever and the third-highest transfer fee in British football, behind Fernando Torres and Angel Di Maria.
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini said: “Raheem Sterling is one of the best attacking players in world football, and I am very much looking forward to him joining our squad out in Australia later this week.
“He is a young player with outstanding ability, and I am sure the Manchester City fans will be very excited about seeing him in action for the team."
Sterling, 20, was originally named in Brendan Rodgers’ 30-man Liverpool squad to travel to Asia and Australia, but pulled out on Sunday to concentrate on the move to Manchester City.
Speaking before they left for the Far East, the Reds boss said there were no hard feelings between himself and the player who joined from QPR as a 15-year-old.
He said: "I spoke to Raheem at length again before I left [on Sunday], so there is no issue and no problem.
"Two clubs have agreed a deal and subject to a medical he will move on.
“But at this moment in time the interest is with the players that are here."
Sterling will fly out to meet his new team-mates in Australia within the next 24 hours and will wear the No7 shirt.
