Tom Cleverley wants become the next Everton player to cement a place in the England squad.
The Goodison Park club are already well-represented at international level, with Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines, Ross Barkley and John Stones all featuring in Roy Hodgson’s plans over the past year.
Cleverley won the latest of his 13 senior caps against Germany in 2013, but performed well on loan at Aston Villa last season, and was last month called into the England squad for the matches against Republic of Ireland and Slovenia.
"Even though I didn't get a cap it was good to be back in the squad and see the new faces I'd not played with before,” said the 25-year-old, who recently joined Everton on a free transfer from Manchester United.
“I really felt at home there again. Hopefully I can keep my place there.”
The midfielder acknowledged the presence of several other experienced internationals in Roberto Martinez’s squad, as well as an emerging crop of Young Lions, as an indication that the club is going places.
"Looking at our squad, we have some good, young internationals, and that was another reason why I joined Everton,” he said.
"If I can get some good form here then I have got a shout of getting back into the England squad.
"There are a lot of positives in joining this squad and getting back in the England squad is definitely one of them.”
Cleverley is currently in Singapore with the Toffees and was a half-time substitute in Wednesday's Asia Trophy victory over Stoke City.
After a 0-0 draw he bagged from the spot in the shootout, along with Stones and Jagielka, to book Everton's place in the final of the four-team tournament.
