England Under-20s forward Chuba Akpom staked his claim for a first-team spot at Arsenal with a hat-trick in a 4-0 win over a Singapore Select XI.
Three Lions midfielder Jack Wilshere also scored from the spot as The FA Cup holders made light work of their Asia Trophy opener on Wednesday afternoon.
Akpom put Arsenal ahead in the first half before rolling home a penalty after the break, and then completed his treble with a powerful header.
The 19-year-old is hoping to further his club career this season after making a flurry of first-team appearances for the Gunners last spring.
He has been capped by England at every youth level, and scored several crucial goals for Aidy Boothroyd's U20s side last season, including two at the Toulon Tournament earlier this summer.
Now Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is urging the east London-born youngster to demand first-team football by his performances on and off the pitch.
Wenger told Arsenal.com: "He’s a young player and this can lift his confidence. The confidence in the dressing room that you sense from the other players is important as well and that can help him.
"Let’s not forget, it’s a friendly. He’s a good talent but he has to work and show that in [the big] games.
Chuba Akpom: Gone in 60 seconds
And Wenger revealed he wanted Akpom to continue his development at Arsenal, rather than send him out on loan again following spells with Nottingham Forest, Coventry City and Brentford in the last two years.
"I sent him out on loan [to Nottingham Forest] last year because I thought he needed that," explained Wenger.
"This pre-season, during the season, I plan to keep him with us.
"[How many opportunities he is given] is down to performance and attitude. He has that grade to make between being a big talent and after an efficient talent week in, week out. That’s of course the target."

Wenger also said he was delighted to see Wilshere perform so well in Arsenal colours after an injury-strewn club campaign.
"He always had appetite, Jack, but he was out for a long time," added the Frenchman.
"Already, in the last two or three games of the season, he has found his burst back with acceleration.
"Like with Alex [Oxlade-Chamberlain, who started the match] that’s a big part of their game. To be very efficient they need that and that demands, physically, to be perfect. He’s getting close now."
Arsenal also gave a run out to England U17s forward Chris Willock, and play their next Asia Trophy match against Everton on Saturday.
The Gunners' pre-season campaign will come to a close on 2 August, when they take on Premier League champions Chelsea in the FA Community Shield supported by McDonalds.
