England captain Steph Houghton said: “The team can’t wait to play in England once again in front of our home fans.

“The support we received from home during the World Cup was amazing and really helped push us on and perform how we did.

“We want to continue building the momentum throughout the Euro qualifying campaign and hope that as many fans as possible come out to support us.”

Andrew Billingham, chief executive of Bristol Sport, said: “We are thrilled that The FA has chosen the new Ashton Gate Stadium to host England Women's first home match since the World Cup.

"It really builds on our vision of putting Bristol on the map as a top sporting city attracting first-class events.

“Hosting the national team will be an honour and builds on our support of women’s football.

"Last year, Bristol Academy played their UEFA Women’s Champions League games here, notably their memorable win against Barcelona.

“I look forward to welcoming Mark Sampson back to Bristol with his team this November.”
