England 6-0 Jamaica
International Match
Saturday 3 June 2006
Old Trafford, Manchester
There was never any doubt that England were going to complete their sixth victory in a row by seeing off the Jamaicans, many of whom played for English clubs. And they were in front after eleven minutes.
Crouch nodded the ball down, Michael Owen turned it back across goal and Frank Lampard guided it first-time into the net.
There was an own goal before Crouch got his first on 29 minutes, firing in from David Beckham’s left-wing corner.
Owen was desperate to score after his long lay-off and made it 4-0 after confidently rounding Jamaican ‘keeper Ricketts.
Crouch, who scored an impressive 22 goals in 42 appearances for England, completed his hat-trick in the second half, netting from close range after Jamie Carragher had played in a perfect cross.
He then swept home England’s sixth to finish off a move created by Owen and Stewart Downing.
It could have been four for Crouchie, who chipped a spot-kick well over the bar. But nothing was going to spoil the day for England and their delighted fans.
The current England team have two games in June, they then return to action in September with a trip to San Marino followed by their first home fixture of the new season against Switzerland at Wembley.
