The German side have confirmed on their official website that the 17-year-old full-back has signed a contract until 30 June 2019.
Mandela Egbo
DOB: 17/08/1997
Position: Defender
International stats:
U18s: 2 caps
U17s: 11 caps (European Championship winner 2014)
U16s: 5 caps
“We are very happy that Mandela decided to play for us. He is a player with huge potential,” said Borussia's sporting director Max Eberl.
“He can play on the right wing both offensively and defensively. Now he has the possibility to rise up through the ranks of the U23 squad and make into the first team.”
Egbo was a key part of John Peacock’s Young Lions squad that won the European U17s Championship in May last year, following on from the five caps he earned at U16-level.
Since moving up an age-group this campaign, he has been capped twice by Neil Dewsnip for England’s U18s.
The east Londoner made his debut for Crystal Palace U18s at the age of 15 and he made 14 appearances for the U21s last season.
