The FA Girls’ Football Festival is heading to Hertfordshire on 2 July, with a host of fun-filled activities for attendees to get involved in.
The event will take place at Monkswalk School in Welwyn Garden City – and gets under way at 9.45am.
It is free to attend and open for primary school pupils in years three and four – and secondary school children from years seven, eight, nine and ten.
Following England Women’s wonderful progress in the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the young attendees are sure to have plenty to aspire to.
The campaign is aimed at girls aged 7-11 years old, and their parents and guardians.
Kelly Simmons, Director of the National Game and Women’s Football, said such events are key to getting more girls involved in the game.
She said: “Growing female participation in football is one of our biggest aims and the festivals give girls the opportunity to try out football in a fun and engaging environment.

“That so many of last year’s participants said they’d like to continue playing football after trying it at the festivals shows how effective programmes like these can be and why it’s important that we take the festivals around the country.”
Thursday event has been organised with the support of the Hertfordshire FA and Monkswalk School, the host venue.
Young players attending will have the chance to meet Renee Hector from Watford Ladies FC and Faye White, Jemma Rose and Natalia Pablos Sanchon from Arsenal Ladies.
To add to the festival atmosphere, there will be giveaways, hair braiding and face painting.
The FA WSL mascot Berry the Bear will also be there, joined by Gunnersaurus from Arsenal.

Meanwhile, all attendees will receive a ticket to their choice of a Watford or Arsenal game for just £1.
Guy Frobisher, marketing eirector at Continental Tyres, also added his own words of encouragement.
