Danny Welbeck scored at Wembley once again to go out in front at the top of the European Qualifiers scoring charts, and said there was no way he was letting the goal go.
The Arsenal man, who had already netted five in four Group E games this campaign, guided home a Jordan Henderson cross from close-range to give England a 2-0 lead over Lithuania on Friday night.
His stooping header took a deflection off the visiting captain on the line - with Wayne Rooney nearby waiting to pounce - but Welbeck insists it was his goal.

“I told [Wayne] it was my goal and he was like ‘alright lad’,” revealed Welbeck, who was named Vauxhall’s man of the match for another energetic display for his country.
“I’m obviously happy with that but most importantly we’re getting these victories and we’re playing well, so that’s the main thing and we just want to keep this run going.
“It was obviously a good team performance, we got the goals, we didn’t let them into the game and we pressed them high up the pitch as a team.
“It was a good performance and it was good to get the victory tonight.”
Sterling and Welbeck talk to FATV
Wayne Rooney opened the scoring in the third minute to go two behind Sir Bobby Charlton’s England scoring record, before Welbeck’s strike on the stroke of half-time.
Raheem Sterling then got his first for England after the break before man-of-the-moment Harry Kane came on for his debut to net almost instantly.
There were also other chances, most notably for Welbeck and Fabian Delph, but they found visiting keeper Giedrius Arlauskis in defiant mood.
“Maybe we could have got a few more goals, but at the end of the day we’ve won 4-0 and Harry’s come off the bench to score within 80 seconds, so it’s brilliant, it’s good for England,” he said.
“Wazza’s getting much closer to the record and it’s something we all want to see him achieve and hopefully he can do it in the next couple of game.”
Roy Hodgson’s men have now won seven games back to back - the best ever start to a season for the Three Lions.
Welbeck says he and his team-mates are determined to keep the run going and secure qualification to France 2016 as quickly as possible.
“I’m obviously aware of the run that we’re on, but I didn’t know the history if it,” he said.
“We really want to push and keep improving. It’s going to be a difficult game in Turin against Italy, but it’s something we look forward to as well.
“We want to qualify and get to France and have a good tournament there. We’re all really excited and the way we’ve been playing recently we’re just looking forward to it.”
