The 23-year-old has become a regular in the Spurs starting line-up under Mauricio Pochettino, resulting in an England call-up and subsequent debut against Italy in March.
And with just three more Premier League games to go, Mason has been reflecting on the past few months as Spurs continue their hunt for a top-four finish.
"It's been a breakthrough season," said Mason, who has had to show patience in waiting for his domestic through since his debut in the UEFA Cup back in 2008.
"I'm delighted how it's been. The challenge now is to carry on and keep improving for next season.
"It is the first time I am going into a break feeling like a footballer. I have had 34, 35 games and that's the first time that's happened.
"After the next three games I'll look forward to it, but probably within a couple of weeks I will be dying to get back into it and pre-season."
Spurs are sixth and know they need to win all of their remaining games and still rely on other results if they are to stand a chance of overtaking Liverpool and Manchester United for fourth spot, and the final Champions League place.
But even though it is an unlikely proposition, the former Swindon Town, Doncaster Rovers, Millwall and Yeovil Town loanee says his side will be giving it everything between now and the end of term.
"I don't think it's hard at all [to remain motivated]," said the former England U19s and U20s international.
"We are a very young team and we want to be playing games.
"There is no sense of us thinking about our holidays at all."
