The Fulham youngster, who usually plies his trade at left-back, partnered Herbie Kane in the centre as the Young Lions were held to a 1-1 draw in Stara Zagora on Sunday.
And it was Edun’s threat down the flank that led to England’s opener, with his dangerous cross being turned into his own net by Dutch centre-half Timothy Fosu-Mensah.

"I found myself in a position I don’t usually find myself," Edun admitted to TheFA.com. "I just did what I love to do, winning the ball back and being on the front foot. I then gave it to Marcus Edwards who did his little bit and played it back to me.
"I tried to slide it across for Stephy [Mavididi], who said afterwards that he would have got there, but I’m just happy that it went in anyway."
John Peacock’s decision to switch to a diamond looked to have bamboozled the Dutch as they were carved open by the English attack on numerous occasions in the opening stages.
Edun says he relished his advanced role and with the quality of midfielders within the squad in Bulgaria, he says they are capable of prospering in a number of different formations.
"You could see they were not ready for the way the team set-up. Their manager had to make changes within the first twenty minutes to deal with what we were doing. We did very well yesterday and I enjoyed it a lot," he said.
"It’s different from how I play at left-back but being able to play both positions has helped me a lot, not only with England but at my club also.
"I’ve always been told that it’s good to be adaptive to different positions.
"With the midfielders we have, we can use a range of formations and challenge teams a lot."
Despite Holland’s controversial equaliser from the penalty spot in the second half, Edun says the mood in the camp is still positive as England sit top of Group D on four points, one ahead of Italy.
And ahead of their final game against Republic of Ireland on Wednesday, a day in which the youngster will celebrate his 17th birthday, he wants to send out a message by finishing in top spot.
"It would have been good to know that we had qualified from the group stage after only two games played, and I think we did deserve the win against Holland," he added.
"It was hard work from all the boys, we put in a lot of effort, but we are still in a good place and top of the group.
"We have to finish the job now by beating Ireland and we are a confident we can do that.
"It’s all positive in the squad, we want to go and get a win on Wednesday and guarantee top spot.
"We don’t want to rely on any other people, and we want to remain unbeaten. We want other teams to know we topped the group."
