John Stones has praised Brendan Galloway after he impressed on his Everton debut, and revealed he offered some words of advice to his fellow England international.
"I’m not the wisest guy but I did offer him a few words of advice before the game," Stones told evertonfc.com.
"I told him to go out there and play his game and not to let anyone distract him and be confident. I told him he deserved to play."
Galloway has made 18 appearances for England’s youth sides since making his debut for the Under-17s in 2012.
However, since joining the Toffees from MK Dons in August 2014, he has had to bide his time in the club's U21 side.
But Roberto Martinez gave the 19-year-old the nod for Saturday's trip to West Ham, and Stones was impressed with the youngster’s composure throughout the 2-1 win.
"Brendan definitely showed what he is about and, for me, he looked like an experienced player out there and he more than played his part in the win," he added.
"We just told him to go out and play his game, he has the ability to do that and he was very focused before the game.
"In that situation you want to try to be as calm as you can and not let the occasion get to you but it is very difficult."
“Brendan is a young man that is developing into a very special defender”

Galloway – who was born in Zimbabwe and moved to the UK at the age of six – also received high praise from his manager, who said he grasped his opportunity with both hands.
"Brendan is a young man that is developing into a very special defender," added Martinez.
"He is a defender that can cope with one-v-one situations, is very good in the air and is very composed on the ball.
"He can start the play, play as a left-back and probably in the future become a centre-half as well because his defending qualities are so good."
