It was back in March when the Fleetwood Town forward received the ball with his back to goal against Preston North End. Turning in the tightest of spaces, he showed nifty footwork to create enough space to chip the goalkeeper with a delicate effort that dropped just inside the far post.
Now eight months on from the glory of that strike in League One, Ball’s goal is back in the headlines again.
The Cod Army forward’s strike has been nominated for the 2015 FIFA Puskas Award, created to recognise the player, male or female, judged to have scored the most aesthetically significant, or most beautiful, goal of the year.
