England striker Harry Kane continued his fine form by netting the only goal in a 1-0 Europa League victory over FK Qarabag to send Tottenham into the knockout stages.
Kane headed home from close range in Azerbaijan after Son Heung-min flicked on Christian Eriksen's corner, his sixth goal in his last nine Tottenham matches, to send the London side through to the last 32 of the competition.
Earlier in the game Dele Alli had hit the woodwork – as did Son – while Mauricio Pochettino also handed starts to Eric Dier and Ryan Mason.
Elsewhere, James Milner held his nerve from the penalty spot as Liverpool beat Bordeaux 2-1 at Anfield to join Spurs in the last 32.
Liverpool found themselves behind at Anfield just after the half-hour mark as Henri Saivet let rip from 16 yards after goalkeeper Simon Mignolet was penalised for holding onto the ball for 20 seconds.
But five minutes later, Christian Benteke was bundled over in the box as he looked to get on the end of a Milner cross.
Milner held his nerve from the resulting penalty to give Liverpool the lead, and just before half time Benteke fired home the winner following a Nathaniel Clyne cross.
After the break, Milner set Benteke up again but the Belgian striker saw his goal ruled out for a foul which mattered little as the Reds – who also handed a start to Jordon Ibe – saw the game out.
The result will have come as a relief to the home fans who were hit with the news that Daniel Sturridge has suffered another injury setback after a foot problem ruled him out of the clash with Bordeaux.
