And the match could see an England homecoming for squad regulars Jake Forster-Caskey, Christian Walton and Solly March, who initially caught the eye of head coach Southgate with their performances for Brighton to earn their international call-ups.
The Three Lions began qualifying earlier this month with a 1-0 win against Norway in Drammen, courtesy of captain James Ward-Prowse’s penalty.
They will be looking to build on that result with their first home game against Kazakhstan at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on 13 October before they travel to face Bosnia-Herzegovina on Thursday 12 November, just four days before the game in Brighton.
Speaking about the match, Southgate said: "It’s likely to be a key game in the qualifying group for us and we’re really looking forward to playing in Brighton.
"These early fixtures are all of real importance for us and after looking at videos of other matches in the group, this qualifying group is definitely tougher than last time.
"With the way we like to play and the pitch, set up and atmosphere at the Amex, it’s one which we hope will suit us."
The Amex has been a happy hunting ground for England over the last few years, with the U19s beating Denmark by 1-0 there in 2011 and then the U21s picking up a 4-0 win over Austria in March 2013.
And Mark Sampson’s Women were the latest England team to visit the venue last year when they beat Montenegro 9-0 in what was the head coach’s first competitive game in charge of the Lionesses.
The game will be broadcast live on BT Sport as part of the broadcaster’s ongoing commitment to showcasing the England development teams.
Tickets for the game will go on sale at the Amex Stadium on Thursday 8 October, priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions (U18s, Over 65s and students, on display of valid ID), family tickets (2 adults, 2 children) £20, Group Booking (15 plus) £5 adults & £2.50 children (U18s).
