Boothroyd said: “We’re looking forward to playing at such a new and impressive stadium, although it will be a familiar venue for a number of the squad.
“It has been tailor-made for development football and some of the lads will be eager to impress in front of a home crowd.
“We have made a name for ourselves by playing an attacking style of football and the high-class playing surface Academy Stadium should really suit us.”
He added: “Japan will provide a strong test of our credentials. They are a developing football nation and with us should put on a good display.”
This month England beat Macedonia and Finland, and drew 0-0 with Italy in the first qualifying round of Euro 2016 to finish top of the group.
The draw for the elite round is on 3 December, with the fixtures played next March and the finals in Germany taking place between 11-24 July.
