After Wayne Rooney had given England the lead, his Manchester United team-mate Shaw delivered the cross for the second - an own goal from Cristian Brolli.
He then linked up with Fabian Delph who supplied the pass for Theo Walcott's first of the night. Ross Barkley also netted while Walcott's second wrapped up the win.
The victory confirmed England's place at next summer's Finals and they can now seal top spot with a draw against Switzerland at Wembley on Tuesday night.
"Everyone always thinks they are easy games, but especially out there with the conditions and how the pitch was I think it was a tough game," said Shaw.
Kane added: "Coming off the bench it was good to try and make an impact. Obviously I'm happy to get the goal and hopefully we can keep doing what we're doing.
"We've qualified now so hopefully we can have a good night on Tuesday night and finish the campaign off strong."
