And Arsenal defender Chambers made an honest assessment of the game, as Gareth Southgate’s men were forced to work for their win by a determined Norwegian outfit.
“We didn’t play as well as we wanted to play,” admitted Chambers, who has quickly formed a solid partnership with Eric Dier at the centre of the England defence.
“But we don’t want to make excuses because we really fought hard for that result.
“It was a tough game, they were tough to play against, played some good football and had some good possession, hence why it was hard for us.

“We analysed all of the players and their strengths and weaknesses, as we do our homework on every team,” he said.
“Our preparation like that is always good. He’s [Odegaard] a good player, but they played well and had good possession.
“He’s got good qualities and will be a very good player, I’m sure.”
