Two second-half goals from Ryan Blake helped Barry Hayles’ Chesham United beat Paulton Rovers 2-0 to progress into the third qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup.
The game was goalless at the break but then Blake scored via the post and then tapped in Dave Pearce’s cross.
Bodmin Town’s hopes of a major upset were ended by a superb strike from Bath City’s Frankie Artus six minutes from time.
Four steps separate the sides in the football pyramid but that was far from evident as they went into the final ten minutes level following goals by Artus and Bodmin’s Adam Carter.
But Artus decided the contest with a wonderful 30-yard shot, which he curled into the top corner with his left foot to ensure a 2-1 win for Bath City.
Chasetown had an easier ride, comfortably beating Hinckley 5-2 and they were helped in no small part to four second-half goals.
Paul Sullivan scored the only goal of the first half on 12 minutes while the visitors levelled just after the break.
But Chasetown immediately stepped things up, with Stan Mugisha and Ryan Wynter scoring either side of James Dance’s penalty, before Danny Edwards’ late header re-established the three-goal difference following Luke Richards’ goal for Hinckley.
Elsewhere, Marc Newsham came back to haunt his former side as Gainsborough Trinity beat Boston United 2-0.
The former Pilgrim found the net midway through the first half before Nathan Jarman doubled the hosts’ advantage with a curling free-kick from the edge of the area.
And with United struggling to create clear-cut chances after the break, Trinity saw out the game to book their place in the next round.
Meanwhile, Stuart Pierpoint made amends for his own goal as his second-half header sealed a 3-1 victory for Stourbridge over a spirited Dunkirk.
Chris Lait tucked in Stourbridge’s opener but Pierpoint couldn’t help but head into his own net on the half-hour.
However, Karl Hawley restored the Glassboys’ lead soon after before Pierpoint wrapped up the win with a far-post header.
Elsewhere some of the biggest winners were Gosport Borough, who beat Bideford 7-0, while Blackfield & Langley saw off Wimborne 6-1.
Ashton United enjoyed a 5-0 success at Abbey Hey, Buxton triumphed 6-1 at Armthorpe Welfare and Barwell were 5-0 victors at home to Cogenhoe United.
