Fans descend on Wembley Way

It is full steam ahead to The Emirates FA Cup third round, after Plymouth Argyle became the last of 64 clubs to move one step closer to Wembley this week.

An extra-time penalty from Graham Carey against Newport County means the League Two leaders will travel to Anfield on Sunday 8 January in one of seven ties to be televised live across the weekend.

The action kicks off with the first-ever FA Cup tie to be staged at the London Stadium when West Ham United host Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City on Friday night, live on BBC One.

Holders Manchester United begin their quest to win a record 13th trophy against Reading on Saturday lunchtime.

National League clubs Barrow and Eastleigh take on Rochdale and Brentford respectively, while Stourbridge, the lowest-ranked team left in the competition, travel to Wycombe Wanderers.

Four days of cup football concludes on Monday 8 January when Leeds United travel to Cambridge United, live on BT Sport 2.
