It was during Everton’s FA Cup campaign of 2009 when the name of Dan Gosling first came to prominence.
Then aged just 18, the former Plymouth Argyle midfielder was introduced as a substitute in their fourth round replay with Merseyside rivals Liverpool with the game drifting towards a penalty shoot-out.
It proved to be a masterstroke by Toffees boss David Moyes, as Gosling curled home a memorable winner in extra time to send Goodison Park wild, although millions of viewers watching on TV - including Gosling's family in Devon - missed the moment due to a broadcasting glitch which saw commercials inadvertently played during the match.

Seven years later, Gosling is now preparing to face his former club as AFC Bournemouth host Everton in Emirates FA Cup fifth round.
And he admits he still has fond memories of his time at Goodison Park, despite leaving for Newcastle United in 2010.
"It's a great club, I went there as a youngster when I was 17 and I didn't expect to go to such a big club," said the 26-year-old.
"The lads there were great and made me feel welcome straight away, it wasn't long before I started playing and felt like part of the team.
"I had some great moments in The FA Cup with them - it [the Liverpool game] was a fourth round replay and in the last minute of extra time, so I don't think you could write a better script than that for a youngster.
"I didn't really know the magnitude of it at the time, until a couple of the lads said I'd go down in the history of the club and still to this day, I get Scousers that come up to me and thank me for that goal.
"It's a great memory and probably one of the best I've had in my career."
Now, Gosling is looking to knock them out as Eddie Howe’s side target a spot in the quarter finals, which would be the furthest the Dorset club have ever been in the competition in their history.
But he admits the Cherries will also have one eye on retaining their top-flight status this season despite the added distraction of an FA Cup run.
"We've done alright in The Cup so far and we'd like to keep that going," he added.
“We go out in every game wanting to win and if we can do that on the weekend, then that's great.
"We saw their [Everton] team in the last round against Carlisle and they had all of their big players playing so we expect the same and we know all about them and I'm sure they know all about us too.
"It's going to be close and it's going to be an exciting game."
