Shrewsbury Town’s Ian Black could be forgiven for having mixed loyalties on Monday evening.

The Scottish midfielder makes no secret about the fact he’s a Manchester United fan, as the League One club prepare to host Louis Van Gaal’s side in The Emirates FA Cup.

But Black will be putting his personal passion for the Old Trafford club to one side when he runs out at Greenhous Meadow for the fifth round tie.

"I'm a Manchester United supporter, I've followed them since I was a kid," revealed the former Rangers and Hearts playmaker.

"Me, my dad and my brother have actually got three season tickets, so it's a great opportunity for my family to come down and support me.

"They were the team that I wanted [in the draw], although at Old Trafford would have been nicer.

"But to bring them here, it's one of those to tick off on your box as something you've done and I'm looking forward to it."

Shrews boss Micky Mellon is also eagerly anticipating the tie, with Monday’s winners set to host West Ham United in the quarter final.

And the former West Brom, Blackpool and Burnley player has urged his squad to go out and enjoy testing themselves against the Premier League giants.

"We're going to make sure we enjoy it," said Mellon.

"We know that we've got it all to do, but we're certainly going to give it a right go.

"It's one of the biggest clubs in the world, with some of the best players in the world playing for them.

"We've been told it's the biggest game, or Cup tie if you like, in Shrewsbury's history so we're very proud of that."
