England captain Wayne Rooney scored a record 176th Premier League goal for Manchester United as they beat rivals Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield.
The 30-year-old has hit a purple patch of late with four goals in his last three games.
And Rooney’s volley from close range means he has now scored more Premier League goals for a single club than anyone else.
He said: "It's great to have records but I don't think that will beat the feeling I've got now.
"I scored the winning goal at Anfield it has been a long time since that happened for me - my first year at United - so I will be a bit selfish today and enjoy that more than most."
England team-mates Chris Smalling and Jesse Lingard also started for United, while Phil Jones and Michael Carrick sat among the travelling supporters at Anfield.
Elsewhere, Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland kept Arsenal at bay in a goalless draw at the Britannia Stadium.
Butland has now made more saves – 81 – than any other Premier League stopper this term, keeping Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at bay this time out, though the Gunners moved above Leicester City to the top of the Premier League table on goal difference.
And Butland hopes he can one day become England’s No1 keeper.
The 22-year-old said: "Of course it’s a target for me, but I’m a long way from that.
"I’m a lot of experience short on where Joe [Hart] is and he rightly deserves to be where he is.
“It’s my first PL season I just want to play as well as I can."
