Michael Charlton’s brilliant strike was enough to see Sunderland RCA through to The FA Vase fifth round as his side saw off Sleaford Town FC 3-2.
Sleaford had taken an early lead thanks to Jack Pemberton as he nodded in after Ryan Oliver’s effort rebounded off the woodwork.
The lead didn’t last long though and, after 20 minutes, Charlton popped up with an equaliser before a towering header from Liam Hatch gave the hosts the lead heading into the break.
Sleaford weren’t finished though and, after the restart, got themselves back into the match as Bradley Hockin poked home.
But Charlton spotted the goalkeeper off his line with time ticking down and found the net to break Sleaford hearts and set up a clash with Manor Farm FC in the next round.
At Bowers & Pitsea it took a brilliant second-half showing to get the hosts through as they eventually turned on the style to win 3-0 against Sutton Common Rovers.
While Bowers were impressive in the first period they needed goalkeeper Martyn Guest to keep the scores level.
The hosts then took the lead thanks to Lewis Manor in the 54th minute before Vinny Durrant doubled the advantage after Guest had once again been called into action.
And the icing on the cake came in the 78th minute as Alfie Hilton netted a third and ended any hopes of a Sutton Common Rovers comeback.
With Morpeth Town against North Shields and Bodmin Town against Ipswich Wanderers both rearranged the only other fixture saw Newton Aycliffe pick up a 2-0 win at home to Marske United.
The hosts took the lead in stoppage time after the first 45 minutes thanks to Matty Moffat before Stuart Banks made sure of the win with a goal in the 76th minute.
