Rangers win local bragging rights and a spot in The FA Trophy third round qualifying

Stafford Rangers reached The Buildbase FA Trophy third round qualifying as Izak Reid’s extra-time penalty finally settled matters in a 2-1 win over local rivals Hednesford Town.

Both teams were reduced to 10 men – Elliot Hodge sent off for Stafford while Michael Williams saw red for the visitors – before Josh Gordon made the breakthrough on 81 minutes.

Tristian Dunkley slotted home an 90th-minute equaliser to the delight of the travelling Hednesford fans, but Reid was successful from the spot after brother Levi had been fouled to ensure progression.

Extra-time was also required to settle the tie between St Neots Town and Marine.

The match was all square at 2-2 after 90 minutes. Declan Rogers and Sam Mulready scored for the Saints – who had Tom Wood sent off – but Adam Hughes and Robbie Threlfall netted for the visitors.

Miles Smith and Tom Ward both followed team-mate Wood and were dismissed, before late goals at the end of extra time from Michael Monaghan and Daniel Mitchley settled a 4-2 win for Marine.

Kingstonian came from behind to beat Tonbridge Angels 2-1 in their replay.

Nathan Elder gave the hosts a 54th-minute lead but a fine finish from Pelayo Pico Gomez levelled matters before Joe Turner’s goal sealed victory for the K’s.

Slough Town and Lincoln United both progressed after enjoying 2-0 wins over Merthyr Town and AFC Rushden & Diamonds respectively.

In the all Southern League Premier Division clash, hosts Slough took the lead on 17 minutes when Charlie Moone nipped in at the near post before Simon Dunn side-footed home a second on the stroke of half-time.

Lincoln United also scored both their goals in the first half with a double from Kallum Smith setting up a trip to Kidderminster Harriers in the next round.

In addition, there were four rearranged second round qualifying ties played on Tuesday night.

Ramsbottom United kept their FA Trophy dream alive with a 4-1 win over Redditch United to set up a third round qualifying clash with AFC Telford United.

Ryan Salmon struck twice, while Gareth Seddon and Alex Meaney were also on target before Reddicth’s late consolation.

Hythe Town will host Bishop’s Stortford in the next round after overcoming Merstham 3-0 in their rearranged fixture.

Goalless at half-time, the match turned in the 55th minute when Merstham’s Kristian Campbell was sent off and the visitors went ahead three minutes later through Dave Cook.

A Dan Hogan own goal on 76 minutes doubled Hythe Town’s lead before Kenny Pogue added a third.

Burgess Hill Town and Chalfont St Peter must meet again in a replay after a 2-2 draw.

Craige Tomkins’ scored twice for the visitors but Okwute Izuchukwu and Tyrell Richardson Brown both netted equalisers.

Brightlingsea Regent and Harlow Town must also replay after a 1-1 draw – Alex Read gave Harlow the lead before captain Matt Cripps levelled.
